EMDR – Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful tool used in psychotherapy to treat trauma, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, sexual dysfunction, stress caused by chronic diseases, and other reactions associated with PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).

EMDR can help process negative experiences from the past entirely and allow the client to replace them with positive thoughts and feelings that will lead to a happier, healthier life.

What is EMDR, Eye movement desensitization
and reprocessing?

EMDR therapy is an eight-phase treatment. As a certified EMDR-practitioner, I take a thorough history of the issue at hand, determine which memory to target first, and then work with bilateral stimulation to incite reprocessing.
Some clients describe the process as feeling like a lucid dream or watching a movie of events from their life. In successful EMDR therapy, the memories become less disturbing, and the meaning of painful events is transformed emotionally.
